Installed an Alpine iDA-X305S head unit into a 2009 HSV VE Maloo. with an Alpine/Parrot Bluetooth kit which enables the HU to make/receive calls, plus you can scroll through the phone book straight from the HU screen. The 305S has a nice high-res screen which shows up your album covers, the HU is fully iPod/iPhone compatible, you can search by artist, album etc from the HU. All other functions on the iPhone still work fine while it is connected too such as texts, safari etc. The HU has been mounted into the flip up compartment, and i have used the flip-up panel as the facia, i think they just cut it with a dremmel or something. All audio from the standard HU has been disabled, including steering wheel controls
however the AC & reverse sensor still work fine through the stock screen. I could have got the steering wheel controls hooked up but for an extra 0, apparently it’s a hard process but it can be done. I used a rounded lens camera (GoPro) so I apologise for the weird depth perception but as you can see my iPhone camera was kinda busy playing the music. It looks great at night too! The big circle button in the middle blends in nicely & looks almost the same as the rest of the knobs/dials on the VE fascia. thanks to the guys at “Gold Coast Car Sound – Slack Creek, QLD” for doing a great job with the install.

This is a teaser vid cause my camera battery died. The box is coming back out again to tune it deeper. It’s at 34hz now, I’m going to tune it to 28hz by adding 8 more inches to the port length. Overall I’m impressed with the output, it’s much louder, but I like the low lows, so mods to the port will have be done.
